OK seriously some crap movies got front page before....but this is uber crap
the animation was crap(just two shapes on a white backround?)
and using two shapes as characters is just a lazy excuse not to draw some real characters and when they where talking they were just jumping up and down.
so ill give you two stars,one for taking 2 minutes of your life to make this and one for actually finding somebody to voice the other shape.

Up untill now I've always thought the front page was meant for movies that showed talent. Sure, some pop up once in a while that lack talent but are in some way unique just plain funny.

Too bad that's not the case right now.

I have a hard time believing, well actually I don't because I know it's bullshit, but this would've never made front page if you weren't working for NG. Seriously, this movie (for lack of a better suiting name) lacks pretty much everything it can miss to make a great movie, so why would anyone put it on the front page? It's not even funny!

Great submission get lost in the portal while at the same time this shit takes it's rightful place. Do you think that's worth it? You having a few laughs because this bullshit is on the frontpage and people complaint about it, while at the same time a movie that someone worked on for weeks or months is overlooked?

I'll give you 3 stars for the qualities you've shown us in this movie:
- You can talk and record it: go you!
- You can tween shapes (that's an underrated quality)!
- Bonus point for actually getting me to write this!

I'm not expecting a serious reply to this so just go ahead, be yourself, and write something about dicks or something (because that would be terribly original!).

Dude Newgrounds isn't like this anymore. It went from being a vulgar immature site to being about impressive works and a community of flash artists.

I think that, because the culture of newgrounds has changed, so has the expectations of its artists, especially that of admins.

Although I like that you are trying to bring back what was so great and funny about the old newgrounds, it's a totally different community now. Although if you submitted this a few years ago it would have been appropriate for the times...newgrounds has now become a learning place and community of hobbyists and so it is in fact insulting that a major representative of the site would submit this.

I respect the humor, but I just don't find it appropriate of today's standards for this website.

Please remember that people look up to you and that you represent newgrounds. By submitting something like this, knowing that it would be well recognized and get a decent score merely because you are well-known and help run the site is just as insulting as I bet many people would feel if Adam Phillips intentionally submitted garbage.

Again, it is not that I don't understand the humor to this, it is just that it doesn't fit into the newgrounds culture anymore.

Nice effort though to bring back the old funnys :P

But it is true that true talent is ignored for the wrong reasons or none at all. I mean, not every masterpiece can fit on that front page all the time without taking away somebody's glory too soon (despite that happenning before that I can recall), but maybe we need a different way of bringing recognition to those who deserve it. Like reveiws for example, I have a chart dealing with how many reveiws an average submission gets before leaving the most recent 50 submissions list:

score from 1.00 to 2.99: 1 to 4 reveiws
Spam submission: 3 to 7 reveiws
score from 3.00 to 3.99: 2 to 7 reveiws
Score over 4.00: +5 reveiws
Has a title dealing with video games: +1
Has a title dealing with something on or about Newgrounds: +2
Made by artist with BA over 3.00: +1
Made by well known author: +at least 5
Is a submission part of a well known series: +at least 5
Front paged: will have guaranteed over 150 reviews within the first couple days

In all my years on Newgrounds, I've never written a review like this before. I'm hardly ever being serious. That's why it's such a great example of how idiotic this whole situation is.

You've got great talent and great skill, plus I love the humor in most of your animations. The thing is that those actually had some quality and this doesn't. Sure, you get a few people to laugh because there are always those who find anything funny, think this is some kind of joke to get people (like me) to react the way they do now or that are simply voting this high in reviews because they know you're name and know you got skill.

My problem with this isn't really that it got front page because I know worse things have got it (which isn't an excuse btw), and I really couldn't care less. The exception is, however, that there currently are animations that deserve it more instead of a lame joke.
So instead of putting shit on the frontpage to get a few kicks, you can also put something with quality on there that actually matters to the person who made it.

... but I love it. This is kind of a satire to all the garbage cartoons people post. The humor is the fact that two seemingly ordinary objects are involved in this convoluted murder plot. Maybe I'm just over analyzing this but I think it takes a bit of genius to make a parody of a parody of your own cartoon. This site isn't just about trying to see who's the best animator, it's a place for animator's and animations of all strengths and quality to be posted. The writing and voice acting on all the front-paged "shape" movies are 10 times better than half the well-drawn submissions we get every day.

the beauty of newgrounds is that its everything by everyone, and everyone is entitled to their opinion being voiced. period. end of statement. that doesn't mean their opinion is right, or better, than anyone else's. its free speech at its purest. but because of this, it really does step on people's toes.
sorry for the rant, but what's REALLY important isn't the ratings or having good reviews, it's knowing that you get to create what you want and other people get to see what's in your head. ITS AMAZING! i still cant believe that people can actually animate freely like this. its such a luxury. and guess what, you'll always have die-hard fans, not because your screenname is johnnyutah, but because this stuff is actually really great, from the biggest tanks to the smallest polygons.

I think the fact that you and the rest of the shape brigade submitters do such good work so consistently when you make a semi-spam flash there's a huge let down emotionally when one of your favorite authors pumps out a new Flash as you're skimming through flashes in Judgment with their name and picture Icon smiling at you.
